 Heilig  explores not only Gerhard's own escape from Nazi Austria but the imprisonment  at
 Dachau and Buchenwald 
              concentration camps of his father, Bruno Heilig, an  anti-nazi 
              political journalist and later, writer of one of the first eyewitness  accounts              of life in the concentration camps.

 Gerhard who was born  in Budapest, escaped to the UK and served with the RAF and laterjoined  Eagle in December 1950
 as a radio operator  flying on York’s and Dak’s.
 
 His first flight  with Eagle was on a Dakota G-AJPF this aircraft had been in service 
            with Trent  Valley Aviation a company purchased by Eagle.
 
 His first flight in the York was  with Capt Sauvage January 1951.
 Later he was to fly with the renowned Capt. JW  Villa.
 Later moving on from Eagle, well that’s another story.

 Rosalind Jones book "The Lanfranc Boys" was published
 for the 50th anniversary of the accident.
 
 The author Rosalind Jones is the sister of one of the
 Croydon schoolboys killed in the accident.
 
 After a number of years of researching, in writing her second book she has tried to find answers to the reasons why the accident happened.
 
 Many of the research papers held in the pulic archieves at
 Kew were origninally caged for 75 years. Due to  a change
 in the law this has now been reduced to 30 years.
 
 Following an indepth investigation some revealing facts until
 now unknown have come to light and puts a new face
 on the published accident report of 1961.
